Brianna Ramirez (Juliet) is a junior at UTEP, pursuing a degree in Theatre Performance. She’s thrilled to be making her debut at the Madeline Park Shakespeare Festival. Past shows include Alice in Wonderland, Quixote Nuevo, and Plumas Negras. She gratefully dedicates this performance to her 15-year-old self.
Jared Chavez Moreno (Romeo) is a second-year student at UTEP, studying theatre with a concentration in performance. This is his first time performing at the Madeline Park Shakespeare Festival, and he’d like to thank the cast and crew he’s had the pleasure of working with. Previous credits include The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, Quixote Nuevo, and Alice in Wonderland. Norman Lewis (Nurse) has enjoyed a 55-year career in the professional theatre including a Broadway appearance in the notorious Oh! Calcutta, regional productions with such stars as Lana Turner, Arlene Dahl, George Chakiris, Kim Hunter, and Loretta Swit, and 22 years as Producing Artistic Director of the Forestburgh Playhouse, the oldest professional summer theatre in New York. Since retiring to Las Cruces in 2008, he has worked frequently on local stages as well, including American Southwest Theatre Company, Las Cruces Community Theatre, El Paso Community Theatre, No Strings Theatre Company, UTEP Dinner Theatre, and Madeline Park Shakespeare Festival.
Luis Hiram Castanos-Vale (Capulet) is a bilingual artist born and raised on the border between El Paso and Cd. Juárez. Of Latino and Mexican-American heritage, he works across several disciplines, including acting, music, writing, and tap dance. He’s pursuing a BFA in Theatre Arts with a concentration in performance at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Luis Hiram is a KCACTF ASPIRE Arts Leadership Fellow in Region 6 and has collaborated with local organizations like Teatro Neplanta, W.H. Productions, El Paso Hoofers, and now Madeline Park Shakespeare Festival. He has been having a lot of fun in this project and is excited to show his bilingual acting to the community.
Wicho Valdez (Montague) is excited to be working with MPSF for the second year! Since the last season Wicho has earned a BFA in Theatre, performed as Quixote in "Quixote Nuevo", and produced "The Importance of Being Earnest" with his performing arts company W.H. Productions. Xavier Felix (Tybalt) is a two-time UTEP graduate with a BFA in Theatre and a Master’s degree in Education. He has performed in plays, musicals, and films throughout his high school, college, and professional career. Previous roles include Pedro Linares in UTEP’s Alebrijes, Mark Antony in Teatro Neplanta’s Julius Caesar, and Hortensio in last year’s MPSF production of The Taming of the Shrew. His love for theatre extends to acting, writing, singing, music, directing, and teaching. He is currently a high school theatre teacher at Montwood High School. He would like to thank his partner, family, dogs, and students for all their support. Go Rams!
Salvador Ali Mendoza (Mercutio) is honored to work for the Madeline Park Shakespeare Festival for the second year in a row! Salvador is a multi-hyphenate artist, composer, musician and actor from El Paso, Texas. His recent roles include “Algernon” in W.H Productions’ rendition of “The Importance of Being Earnest”, as well as “Enrique” in the debut of “Mad Flower” at the Philanthropy Theatre's Jewel Box Series. When he’s not performing, or working on his next project, Salvador enjoys supporting his fellow artists and engaging with his community. He’d like to thank everyone for coming and his family and friends for their support.
Fernando Romero (Prince/Balthasar)
Aidan Morales (Paris) started acting at age 13 and fell in love with the art continuing to explore the craft to this day. He hopes to live as an Actor which he believes is to live many more lives than just your own. He believes that the best way to live life is to experience life, and acting offers as many experiences as life has to give. He would like to dedicate this performance to his friends Paul and Charleigh, for their constant support and the knowledge they shared. Thank you for making me run when I wanted to walk, for making me tear up from laughing when I wanted to tear up from sorrow. I love you guys!
Fern M. Trousdale (Benvolio) is a senior at UTEP graduating this December with their BFA in Stage and Theatre Management. Outside of MPSF, Trousdale is the Production Stage Manager for CATS the Musical with the UTEP Dinner Theatre, on the Board of Volunteers at the El Paso Playhouse, and participates in all theatre concentrations when possible. Previous works include, The Importance of Being Earnest (Director), Bright Star (SM Intern), and Legally Blonde the Musical (Production Stage Manager)
Maya Lavin (ASM/Props Master) earned her BFA in Stage and Theatre Management from the University of Texas at El Paso. Recent credits include Bon Appétit! (El Paso Opera), The Importance of Being Earnest (W.H. Productions), and Roméo & Juliette (El Paso Opera). She has also taught elementary theater, having directed two Romeo and Juliet productions with her students. She is especially grateful to MSPF for the opportunity to work on her final show in El Paso before beginning her next chapter at UC Irvine, and she gives heartfelt thanks to her family for their constant love and support. Arely Garcia (Costume Design) recently graduated from UTEP with her BFA in Theatre (Design and Technology) and is excited to be joining MPSF after watching as an audience member for the past three years. This is her very first project beyond UTEP, and she couldn’t be more excited to dive in. She would like to give a huge thanks to her wonderful family for all their love and support!
Chloe Curtis (Intimacy Coordinator) has a BFA from the University of Texas at El Paso in theatre performance with a concentration in Musical Theatre. She was recently seen in What Once Was: a Holocaust Remembrance Play at the Plaza Theatre. Since graduating she has been given the opportunity to expand her knowledge of theatre outside of just the performance side. She recently designed costumes for a production of Godspell and Romeo and Juliet in Ocala, Florida at the Civic Theatre. And now she is beyond excited to be the intimacy coordinator for this production of Romeo and Juliet. It has been amazing to work with this production team and with this cast. And it has been a gift to tell this beautiful story through its intimacy.
Marissa "Mari" Núñez (Choreographer) is a movement artist from El Paso, Texas. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Enterprise Regulation with a minor in Dramatic Arts from St. John's University and a Master of Public Affairs from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin. Mari is passionate about using movement to spark community dialogue about social justice. Her most recent credits include acting in Teatro Neplanta's 24-Hour Play Festival, performing in Dr. Gloria Flores' Pendular Borders and choreographing MPSF’s Taming of the Shrew. Mari is grateful to contribute to El Paso's thriving arts community in this year's Romeo & Juliet. When she is not choreographing, you can find Mari dreaming up public policy, rabble-rousing, or crying over her deep love for her dog, Chabela. Eternal love and appreciation to her family, friends and her husband, Santiago, for supporting each facet of her being and work.
